I LIIIIIVE
Oct. 13th, 2020 12:07 pmJust popping by to note that I'm still active online!
Dreamwidth primarily serves as a catchall directory for me (see my previous posting for a list of places I can be found) and possibly a host for longform articles I don't feel I can entrust to websites that like to randomly takedown things that are Too Queer or By The Wrong Kind Of Survivor.
For a lot of reasons, I'm much more comfortable with people meeting me online, reading about my life experiences, and then meeting me in person (which has now happened one (1) time, and will probably be happening more) than people who know me from fleshspace finding or seeking out these online platforms and the intimate details they contain.
In the online art and LGBTQA+ communities, having dysphoria that amounts to chronic pain, living with mental illness and neurotypicality, and being a survivor of any or several kinds of trauma are all par for the course. While bullies might target those aspects of you, it's usually something that allows you to find human connection and kindred spirits, which is why we talk about our experiences!
In fleshspace.............. when known, all of those things, at best, mean "one is SUPPOSED to treat this person with pity and as if that is the only relevant thing about them." And that sucks. I never want those people to treat me like that. (Most people in the various groups I've listed probably feel similarly.) And the only way to accomplish that is to never talk about those experiences where they can see.
IF you are coming from fleshspace: remember the words you have read here, and adjust your behavior accordingly.
- and thus ends the PSA! Have a nice day, everyone.
